Fall is officially upon us! We’re just weeks away from wearing Halloween costumes and prepping Thanksgiving meals. Even if the weather is warm where you live, like it is here in Memphis, fall entertaining is coming. To inspire you this season, here are 6 entertaining ideas for your next fall gathering!
1. Bring Nature Inside
Fall is about pumpkin everything, and I love how just a few pumpkins mixed into my everyday decor immediately adds a festive flair. From pumpkin figurines and real pumpkins to mums, dried hydrangeas, and sunflowers, your décor will be immediately elevated. I especially love this woven pumpkin that I found at Target for under $20!
2. A Seasonal Menu
With the cooler temperatures come meals that are centered around warm soup. I love the idea of having a cozy meal together with friends to welcome in this season! Greet your guests with a festive cheeseboard featuring dried fruits and cheeses. For the entrée, offer two options—a heartier soup like Vegetable Beef and a creamier soup like Butternut Squash or Loaded Potato. I’d pair these entrées with warm rolls or cornbread and a seasonal salad. What’s great about this menu is the ability to prep most of the items before your guests’ arrival. That leaves you with plenty of time to focus on setting the mood for the rest of your home! For dessert offer something seasonal, like apple pie or s’mores.
3. A Festive Drink
A simple way to incorporate a cozy fall feeling into your entertaining is by making a stovetop festive drink like apple cider, with the option to add rum, brandy, or bourbon if your guests prefer. A bonus of a stovetop drink is that your entire home will smell like fall! These glass mugs would be the perfect vessel.
4. Neutral Tabletop Pieces
One of my favorite entertaining tips is to use neutral pieces on your table for a beautiful, cohesive look. While paper plates and bowls are a saving grace for larger crowds, your guests at a smaller dinner party will feel right at home when served up a large bowl of soup in a real bowl! What’s even better is that these pieces will work in every season and stand the test of time. Another tip is to mix in seasonal salad plates or dinner napkins with your year-round dinnerware for added festivity.
5. Candles
Turn down the lights and burn some candles during your next get-together and see how the mood of the entire party changes. There’s nothing cozier than flickering candlelight this season. Place them around the food, in the bathroom, and in common areas where people will naturally converse. I especially love that color taper candles and candlesticks are making a comeback. How cute would these multicolored candles be on your table?
6. The Perfect Fall Playlist
My final tip is probably the easiest but the most forgotten! There’s nothing like setting the mood with a great playlist. I especially love the Nancy Meyer’s Movie Playlist on Spotify.
